Volunteer with Houston Rabbit Resource

Help rabbits feel safe, seen, and loved.

Houston Rabbit Resource is powered by people who care. Whether you want to clean pens, greet visitors, help at events, support our bunny boutique, assist with grooming days, or lend your skills behind the scenes, there is a place for you here.

Why it matters

Every shift helps us say yes to more rabbits.

Volunteers keep our rescue moving. Your time helps us care for foster rabbits, support adopters, run community programs, and build a safer future for Houston’s domestic rabbits.

Care feels calmer.

Clean spaces, fresh hay, full water bowls, and patient handling help rabbits settle in and feel secure.

Programs can grow.

Volunteers help us run classes, adoption events, clinics, grooming days, boutique hours, and community support.

People get support.

From new bunny families to overwhelmed owners, volunteers help us make rabbit care more accessible.

Questions

Volunteer FAQ

Do I need rabbit experience?

No. Many volunteers start with no rabbit experience. We will help you learn rabbit-safe handling, body language, cleaning procedures, and care expectations before you take on hands-on roles.

Can I volunteer if I have limited availability?

Yes. We have different types of opportunities, including center shifts, event support, special projects, and behind-the-scenes help. Even a few hours can make a difference.

Can junior volunteers help?

Some opportunities may be available for junior volunteers with approval and supervision. Because rabbits are delicate, some roles may have age, training, or handling requirements.

What should I wear for volunteer shifts?

Wear comfortable clothes that can get hay, fur, or cleaning supplies on them. Closed-toe shoes are recommended for center care, cleaning, and event setup.

What happens after I apply?

After your application is submitted, we will share next steps for orientation and training. Once you are onboarded, you will be able to sign up for approved volunteer opportunities.

Ready to hop in?

Your time can help a rabbit recover, help a family learn, help an adopter feel prepared, and help our center stay open for the bunnies who need us most.
