A Week of Hope for Lazarus, Nutmeg, and Bunny Foo Foo’s Babies

Some weeks in rescue feel heavy with worry. Then there are weeks like this one. Weeks when hope feels so big that it fills the room and reminds us why we keep showing up for these little lives. Today we get to share three beautiful updates that would not be possible without you and the incredible veterinary guidance from our awesome partners at Cypress Lakes Animal Hospital.

Lazarus: Our Miracle Boy Keeps Surprising Us

Lazarus recently went in for another checkup, and the news we received filled us with so much hope. Dr. Morales said he is showing real improvement. He was finally strong enough to undergo his neuter, a much-needed tooth trim, and the removal of some excess skin that had been causing him discomfort. Through every step he remained calm and trusting. He really is a brave little soul.

His foster dad also came up with a brilliant idea to help keep Lazarus warm. Instead of wearing sweaters around the clock, his enclosure was gently converted into a warm little “incubator” with controlled heat. It lets him hop around freely, stay comfortable, and maintain his body temperature without stress. And it is working. He is more active. He is eating more. He is happier. Watching him choose to explore instead of curl up to stay warm is something that makes us breathe easier.

Lazarus still needs time and ongoing care, but for the first time we can say with confidence that he is moving in the right direction. What a gift.

Nutmeg: Small Body, Giant Willpower

Nutmeg continues to show us what resilience looks like. Even after being hit by a car and found in a ditch with cold water, she is fighting her way forward every single day.

She recently received laser therapy for her injuries, including a bruised lung that has made breathing a challenge. Even with discomfort, this tiny girl is already walking around on nonslippery surfaces, eating like she has never had a proper meal before, and showing more and more curiosity. Her determination is unbelievable. She wants to be here. She wants to heal. And she is.

Your support gives her the chance to do that.

Bunny Foo Foo’s Babies: A Community Showing Up in Force

When Bunny Foo Foo surprised us with four newborn babies, we knew we were going to need supplies fast. New moms and growing babies go through alfalfa, pellets, and hay at lightning speed. We put out a call asking for help.

And you answered that call with so much love.

Boxes and boxes began arriving from our wishlist. Fresh alfalfa. Baby safe supplies. Treats for their mom. Everything they needed to start life warm, fed, and safe. Watching these donations pile in was emotional in the best way. They came from people who may never meet these babies, yet still wanted their little lives to begin with comfort and abundance.

Thank you for helping them start off on the right foot. Thank you for showing their mom that she is not alone. Thank you for reminding us that kindness can show up at the speed of light when tiny lives need it.

Why These Updates Matter

Every warm enclosure.
Every treatment.
Every armful of hay.
Every second chance.

It exists because of you.

When you donate, share our posts, send supplies from our wishlist, or support the work we do, you become part of these stories. You help us turn fear into safety. Suffering into healing. Abandonment into love.

This week we got to witness Lazarus breathe a little easier, Nutmeg stand a little taller, and four newborn babies rest with full bellies. These moments happen because a community cares.Thank you for helping us help them.
Thank you for believing in their futures.
